If you analyse the individual naked human in the wild, we are thoroughly inadequate and fragile. We are not the best adapted for any particular habitat/environment. We are not particularly physically gifted to be apex predators. In this context we would be considered a very average animal with no particular talents.
Crocodiles, sharks and hippos command the waters, wild cats, dogs, bears and wolves are the rulers of the land and the rest have unique talents and physical gifts that allow them to survive in this environment, significantly more than a human.
However the one thing that changed the game of natural selection for the individual naked human in the wild, was the superpower of preparation.
We are able to prepare clothing for different environments and weather conditions. We are able to prepare tools to help us with fighting, hunting, foraging and the storage of resources. We are able to prepare cooked and preserved foods/meals.
The singular superpower of preparation has allowed humanity to not just become the apex predators but to transcend natural selection itself. We were never the fastest, strongest, biggest, or most talented in the environment, but we were the most prepared. Success was never about sheer talent. Success is about preparation and the willingness to put in the work to survive and thrive.
The early bird wakes before the others, to scout and complete the necessary preparations for the hunt. No matter what that may be.
Have you been maximising the use of the superpower that is preparation?
PREPARATION, THE HUMAN SUPERPOWER
BEING PUNCTUAL IS THE BARE MINIMUM
Everything occurs within a certain window of opportunity and timing.
From witnessing the beauty of the sunrise and sunset, the mundaneness of catching the scheduled train, crossing the road at the traffic lights, to knowing when to buy and sell stocks and making a new connection with someone new, these moments come and go quickly and require us to be ready to act to captialise on them.
Being punctual is about demonstrating that one understands the nature of these windows of opportunies. That one is reliable, consistent and ready for any and every opportunity that arises.
To not be punctual demonstrates the opposite. A lack of self-awareness and awareness of the world and it's window of opportunities. That one is unreliable and inconsistent and is not ready and will not act when opportunity arises.
The window of opportunity has a cascading effect. One that can open new doors to even greater opportunities for those that are ready and worthy, but also one that closes doors and spirals one into chaos for those unprepared and unworthy.
Be ready. Be worthy. Be punctual. It's the bare minimum.
THE REWARD FOR INITIATIVE
HUNT IN THE BEST CONDITIONS
There is a general rule of thumb that life rewards those with initiative. To be able to act before others do and/or the ability to assess and address things independently and proactively.
If we examine our social and life structures, we can see that this is true:
- If you arrive at the opening times at the fruit or fish markets, you have access to the freshest and highest quality of ingredients that would otherwise not be avaliable if you arrived later in the day.
- The people who proactively establish a healthy lifestyle (exercise, diet, etc) before having health issues, experience better long term health and outcomes.
- People who can identify problems/needs in the market and others and provide innovative solutions are financially rewarded.
- People who proactive reach out to others and attend social events, are rewarded with opportunities to improve their communication skills and connect/learn from others, that other people otherwise would not have.
So why live life on hard mode by skipping these rewards.
Life rewards the early bird.
Take charge of your initiative and you will be rewarded.
Life is hard enough without us adding more unnecessary stress and difficulties to the equation. We have a finite amount of resources and energy to work with everyday. So we have to be careful to take care of our health and fitness to maximise our energy, but also be very selective about what and how we do things to make sure we don't overexert ourselves and burn out.
That's why we should hunt in good conditions, but what does this mean?
- Theoretically, we have the most amount of willpower, energy and resources at the start of a new day. This is when we are in the optimal condition to make decisions, complete the toughest challenges and tasks and push ourselves.
- The early bird applies the same principles but also considers environmental and social factors. The early bird hunts when the other birds are still asleep. There is less competition for prey and more worms for the bird to hunt. These are the best conditions to be hunting for food as a bird, as the early bird should be able to hunt unchallenged and thus won't have to expend many resources to do so.
Consider how to apply these concepts and principles into your everyday life.
To operate at your best, make life easier and be more successful!
